Masoor Dal also known as the Lentil or Lens Culinaris or Esculenta is an edible pulse. It is the Legune family annual plant that is bushy and is known for its lens-shaped seeds. Masoor Dal can be soaked, germinated, cooked, fried and baked for consummation but the most common way to make it is to cook it. The seeds need to be cooked for 10 to 40 mins, depends on the type. Masoor Dal is good for the people who are suffering form diabetes as it has low levels of readily digestible starch and low levels of slow digested starch.
